<p>You&rsquo;ll need:</p>

<ul class="is-style-checklist">
<li>3 cups shredded cooked chicken breast</li>

<li>9.25 ounces nacho cheese-flavored Doritos chips, crushed (reserve 1&frac12; cups for topping)</li>

<li>10.5 ounces cream of chicken soup, undiluted</li>

<li>10.5 ounces cream of mushroom soup, undiluted</li>

<li>8 ounces sour cream</li>

<li>15.25 ounces southwest corn, drained</li>

<li>1 cup mild chunky salsa</li>

<li>4 cups fiesta blend shredded cheese, divided 3 cups and 1 cup</li>
</ul>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Substitutions and Additions&nbsp;</h3>

<p><strong>NACHO CHEESE FLAVORED DORITOS:</strong>&nbsp; Any flavor of Doritos will work, and changing it up makes it easy to change the flavor of your casserole.</p>

<p><strong>SOUTHWEST CORN:</strong> Mexican corn is a perfect alternative if you can&rsquo;t find Southwest corn.</p>

<p><strong>FIESTA BLEND SHREDDED CHEESE:</strong> Fiesta blend is ideal for this recipe, but Tex-Mex, Jack, or even cheddar varieties will work nicely.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="how-to-make-this-doritos-cheesy-chicken-casserole-recipe">How to Make This Doritos Cheesy Chicken Casserole Recipe</h2>

<p><strong>STEP ONE:</strong> Preheat the oven to 350&deg;F. Generously spray a 9&times;13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Set it aside.</p>

<p><strong>STEP TWO: </strong>Crush the bag of Doritos, and pour all but 1&frac12; cups into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.</p>

<p><strong>PRO TIP: </strong><em>Use a rolling pin to easily crush the Doritos.</em></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="1905" src="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Doritos-Cheesy-Chicken-Casserole-step1-.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1477" srcset="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Doritos-Cheesy-Chicken-Casserole-step1-.jpg 1200w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Doritos-Cheesy-Chicken-Casserole-step1--189x300.jpg 189w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Doritos-Cheesy-Chicken-Casserole-step1--645x1024.jpg 645w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Doritos-Cheesy-Chicken-Casserole-step1--768x1219.jpg 768w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Doritos-Cheesy-Chicken-Casserole-step1--968x1536.jpg 968w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<p><strong>STEP THREE:</strong> Using a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk together the cream of chicken soup, cream of mushroom soup, and sour cream until smooth.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1200" height="1905" src="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Doritos-Cheesy-Chicken-Casserole-step2-.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1478" srcset="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Doritos-Cheesy-Chicken-Casserole-step2-.jpg 1200w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Doritos-Cheesy-Chicken-Casserole-step2--189x300.jpg 189w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Doritos-Cheesy-Chicken-Casserole-step2--645x1024.jpg 645w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Doritos-Cheesy-Chicken-Casserole-step2--768x1219.jpg 768w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Doritos-Cheesy-Chicken-Casserole-step2--968x1536.jpg 968w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<p><strong>STEP FOUR:</strong> In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained corn, salsa, shredded chicken breast, and 3 cups of shredded cheese. Add the soup and sour cream mixture and stir until well combined.</p>

<p><strong>PRO TIP: </strong><em>Use the paddle attachment of a stand mixer to shred your chicken. Gradually increase the speed as the chicken begins to come apart.</em></p>

<p><strong>STEP FIVE: </strong>Evenly spread the cheesy chicken mixture over the top of the crushed chips.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1200" height="1905" src="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Doritos-Cheesy-Chicken-Casserole-step4-.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1480" srcset="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Doritos-Cheesy-Chicken-Casserole-step4-.jpg 1200w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Doritos-Cheesy-Chicken-Casserole-step4--189x300.jpg 189w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Doritos-Cheesy-Chicken-Casserole-step4--645x1024.jpg 645w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Doritos-Cheesy-Chicken-Casserole-step4--768x1219.jpg 768w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Doritos-Cheesy-Chicken-Casserole-step4--968x1536.jpg 968w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<p>You&rsquo;ll need:</p>

<p><strong>For the Spicy Bang Bang Sauce</strong></p>

<ul class="is-style-checklist">
<li>&frac12; cup mayo</li>

<li>&frac12; cup sweet Thai chili sauce</li>

<li>juice of 1 lime</li>

<li>1&frac12; teaspoons sriracha sauce</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>For the Pasta and Shrimp</strong></p>

<ul class="is-style-checklist">
<li>8 ounces spaghetti noodles, cooked according to package directions and drained</li>

<li>12 ounces medium shrimp, peeled and deveined</li>

<li>1&frac12; tablespoons olive oil (or coconut oil)</li>

<li>1 tablespoon fresh minced cloves of garlic</li>

<li>2 teaspoons smoked paprika</li>

<li>&frac12; teaspoon kosher salt</li>

<li>&frac12; teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper</li>

<li>&#8539; teaspoon red pepper flakes</li>

<li>fresh chopped parsley or fresh chopped cilantro (optional garnish)</li>
</ul>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Substitutions and Additions&nbsp;</h3>

<p><strong>MAYO: </strong>You can substitute plain Greek yogurt, cream cheese, sour cream, or even heavy cream in place of mayonnaise.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>CHILI SAUCE: </strong>Substitute Thai sweet chili sauce for plain sweet chili sauce or sweet Korean chili sauce (Cho gochujang).</p>

<p><strong>SEAFOOD: </strong>Scallops would also taste great in this recipe.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>PASTA: </strong>You can swap out spaghetti for any other long noodle in this recipe, like linguine or angel hair pasta. I recommend using long noodles in this recipe.&nbsp;</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="how-to-make-this-bang-bang-shrimp-pasta-recipe">How to Make This Bang Bang Shrimp Pasta Recipe&nbsp;</h2>

<p><strong>For the Sauce</strong></p>

<p><strong>STEP ONE:</strong> In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the mayo, sweet chili sauce, lime juice, and sriracha sauce until it is smooth. Set it aside.</p>

<p><strong>PRO TIP:</strong> <em>Feel free to add more or less sriracha depending on your spice preferences.&nbsp;</em></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1200" height="1906" src="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Bang-Bang-Shrimp-Pasta-Step1-.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1301" srcset="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Bang-Bang-Shrimp-Pasta-Step1-.jpg 1200w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Bang-Bang-Shrimp-Pasta-Step1--189x300.jpg 189w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Bang-Bang-Shrimp-Pasta-Step1--645x1024.jpg 645w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Bang-Bang-Shrimp-Pasta-Step1--768x1220.jpg 768w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Bang-Bang-Shrimp-Pasta-Step1--967x1536.jpg 967w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<p><strong>For the Pasta and Shrimp</strong></p>

<p><strong>STEP ONE:</strong> Using a medium-sized mixing bowl, toss together the shrimp, &frac12; tablespoon olive oil, fresh minced garlic, paprika, kosher salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1200" height="1906" src="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Bang-Bang-Shrimp-Pasta-Step2-.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1302" srcset="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Bang-Bang-Shrimp-Pasta-Step2-.jpg 1200w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Bang-Bang-Shrimp-Pasta-Step2--189x300.jpg 189w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Bang-Bang-Shrimp-Pasta-Step2--645x1024.jpg 645w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Bang-Bang-Shrimp-Pasta-Step2--768x1220.jpg 768w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Bang-Bang-Shrimp-Pasta-Step2--967x1536.jpg 967w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<p><strong>STEP TWO:</strong> In a large skillet (12-inch) over medium heat, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>STEP THREE:</strong> Add in the coated shrimp, constantly stirring to ensure the garlic does not burn and the shrimp cooks evenly, about 8 to 10 minutes. Once cooked, turn off the stovetop.</p>

<p><strong>PRO TIP: </strong><em>Shrimp cooks fairly fast, and cooking time can vary depending on the size of the shrimp, so use your best judgment when deciding on cooking time.&nbsp;</em></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1200" height="1906" src="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Bang-Bang-Shrimp-Pasta-Step3-.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1303" srcset="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Bang-Bang-Shrimp-Pasta-Step3-.jpg 1200w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Bang-Bang-Shrimp-Pasta-Step3--189x300.jpg 189w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Bang-Bang-Shrimp-Pasta-Step3--645x1024.jpg 645w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Bang-Bang-Shrimp-Pasta-Step3--768x1220.jpg 768w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Bang-Bang-Shrimp-Pasta-Step3--967x1536.jpg 967w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<p><strong>PRO TIP: </strong><em>Shrimp turns pink when completely cooked. It also releases liquid, so there will be some liquid in the pan from cooking.&nbsp;</em></p>

<p><strong>STEP FOUR:</strong> Leaving the skillet on the stovetop, add the cooked pasta and sauce on top of the cooked shrimp. Toss to thoroughly coat the noodles and the shrimp.</p>

<p><strong>STEP FIVE:</strong> Garnish with parsley or cilantro. Serve while hot.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="how-to-serve">How To Serve&nbsp;</h2>

<p>Serve this bang bang shrimp pasta immediately on its own or with garlic bread and salad for a delicious and satisfying meal.&nbsp;</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="storage">Storage&nbsp;</h2>

<p><strong>IN THE FRIDGE: </strong>Store any leftovers tightly covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.</p>

<p><strong>IN THE FREEZER:</strong> We do not recommend freezing this recipe as the creamy texture of the sauce will change.<br><br><strong>REHEATING INSTRUCTIONS: </strong>To reheat, microwave individual portions for one to two minutes or until warm.&nbsp;</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1200" height="1906" src="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Bang-Bang-Shrimp-Pasta-Hero2-.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1304" srcset="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Bang-Bang-Shrimp-Pasta-Hero2-.jpg 1200w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Bang-Bang-Shrimp-Pasta-Hero2--189x300.jpg 189w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Bang-Bang-Shrimp-Pasta-Hero2--645x1024.jpg 645w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Bang-Bang-Shrimp-Pasta-Hero2--768x1220.jpg 768w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Bang-Bang-Shrimp-Pasta-Hero2--967x1536.jpg 967w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<p>The ultimate comfort food, this poor man&rsquo;s steak recipe will become a regular on your dinner table. Juicy ground beef smothered in creamy mushroom gravy is an easy and delicious meal that the whole family will enjoy.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1200" height="1905" src="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-Hero1.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-443" srcset="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-Hero1.jpg 1200w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-Hero1-189x300.jpg 189w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-Hero1-645x1024.jpg 645w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-Hero1-768x1219.jpg 768w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-Hero1-968x1536.jpg 968w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="poor-mans-steak-ingredients">Poor Man&rsquo;s Steak Ingredients</h2>

<p>You&rsquo;ll need:</p>

<p><strong>For the Steaks</strong></p>

<ul class="is-style-checklist">
<li>2 pounds ground beef</li>

<li>1&frac12; cups saltine crackers, crushed</li>

<li>1 cup whole milk</li>

<li>&frac12; teaspoon Italian seasoning</li>

<li>&frac12; teaspoon garlic powder</li>

<li>&frac12; teaspoon onion powder</li>

<li>&frac12; teaspoon paprika</li>

<li>&frac14; teaspoon cayenne pepper</li>

<li>Salt and black pepper to taste</li>

<li>1 cup flour for dredging (or more if needed)</li>

<li>2 tablespoon butter</li>

<li>1 tablespoon olive oil</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>For the Mushroom Gravy</strong></p>

<ul class="is-style-checklist">
<li>2 cans condensed cream of mushroom soup</li>

<li>1&frac12; cups whole milk</li>

<li>1&frac12; tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped</li>
</ul>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Substitutions and Additions</h3>

<p><strong>BEEF: </strong>For a less greasy poor man&rsquo;s steak, use lean or extra lean ground beef.<strong>&nbsp;</strong></p>

<p><strong>SOUP: </strong>Any creamy soup will do in this yummy gravy.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>VEGGIES: </strong>Add more vegetables to the dish by adding in onions when cooking the hamburger, or add them into the gravy. I like using fresh or canned mushrooms, peas, or corn.</p>

<p><strong>MILK: </strong>Whole milk makes this recipe extra creamy but you can also use<strong> </strong>1% or 2% milk in its place.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="how-to-make-this-poor-mans-steak-recipe">How to Make This Poor Man&rsquo;s Steak Recipe</h2>

<p><strong>STEP ONE:</strong> Preheat the oven to 350&deg;F and spray a 9-inch by 13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.</p>

<p><strong>STEP TWO:</strong> Whisk together the cream of mushroom soup and milk in a medium bowl, then stir in the chopped parsley. Set aside.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1200" height="1905" src="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-STEP1.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-444" srcset="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-STEP1.jpg 1200w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-STEP1-189x300.jpg 189w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-STEP1-645x1024.jpg 645w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-STEP1-768x1219.jpg 768w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-STEP1-968x1536.jpg 968w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<p><strong>STEP THREE:</strong> Mix ground beef, saltine cracker crumbs, milk, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper in a large bowl. Season with salt and pepper to taste.</p>

<p><strong>PRO TIP:</strong> <em>If you want to reduce the salt in this recipe, use saltine crackers with unsalted tops.&nbsp;</em></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1200" height="1905" src="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-STEP2.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-446" srcset="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-STEP2.jpg 1200w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-STEP2-189x300.jpg 189w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-STEP2-645x1024.jpg 645w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-STEP2-768x1219.jpg 768w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-STEP2-968x1536.jpg 968w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<p><strong>STEP FOUR: </strong>Combine the ingredients until mixed, then shape into similar-sized patties.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1200" height="1905" src="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-STEP3.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-445" srcset="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-STEP3.jpg 1200w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-STEP3-189x300.jpg 189w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-STEP3-645x1024.jpg 645w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-STEP3-768x1219.jpg 768w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-STEP3-968x1536.jpg 968w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<p><strong>STEP FIVE:</strong> In a shallow dish, pour in 1 cup of flour and season with salt and pepper. Dredge the patties in the flour.</p>

<p><strong>STEP SIX:</strong> Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Melt butter, then add olive oil. Once the skillet is hot, sear the patties on both sides until golden brown.&nbsp;</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1200" height="1905" src="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-STEP4.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-447" srcset="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-STEP4.jpg 1200w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-STEP4-189x300.jpg 189w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-STEP4-645x1024.jpg 645w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-STEP4-768x1219.jpg 768w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-STEP4-968x1536.jpg 968w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<p><strong>PRO TIP:</strong> <em>You want to cook your patties in a single layer so you may have to sear them in batches. These will continue to cook in the oven.&nbsp;</em></p>

<p><strong>STEP SEVEN:</strong> Once browned, place the patties in the greased baking dish. Evenly pour the gravy over the patties, then cover the dish with aluminum foil.</p>

<p><strong>PRO TIP:</strong> <em>The gravy can sometimes bubble up while cooking so cover the dish with foil and place your baking dish on a tray in the oven.</em></p>

<p><strong>STEP EIGHT:</strong> Place the baking dish in a preheated oven and bake for 30-40 minutes or until cooked through.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1200" height="1905" src="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-STEP6.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-449" srcset="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-STEP6.jpg 1200w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-STEP6-189x300.jpg 189w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-STEP6-645x1024.jpg 645w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-STEP6-768x1219.jpg 768w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-STEP6-968x1536.jpg 968w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="how-to-serve">How To Serve</h2>

<p>These poor man&rsquo;s steaks are filling on their own, but if you want to add more to the table, I recommend serving them alongside creamy mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or roasted broccoli.&nbsp;</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="storage">Storage</h2>

<p><strong>IN THE FRIDGE:</strong> In an airtight container, store the leftover hamburger steaks in the fridge for up to 3 days.</p>

<p><strong>IN THE FREEZER:</strong> Both the raw patties and cooked leftovers freeze great! Store them in a freezer-safe container for up to 2 months.</p>

<p><strong>REHEATING INSTRUCTIONS: </strong>To reheat, just pop them into the microwave for 2-3 minutes, or until warmed through.&nbsp;</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1200" height="1905" src="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-Hero2.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-450" srcset="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-Hero2.jpg 1200w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-Hero2-189x300.jpg 189w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-Hero2-645x1024.jpg 645w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-Hero2-768x1219.jpg 768w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Poor-Mans-Steak-Hero2-968x1536.jpg 968w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<p>This flavorful poor man&rsquo;s steak comes together easily, so it&rsquo;s perfect for a busy weeknight or anytime you need a serving of warm and satisfying comfort food.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="faq">FAQ:</h2>

<p>Question: Can I prep this poor man&rsquo;s steak recipe ahead of time?</p>

<p><strong>Answer: </strong>Yes you can! It can sit in the fridge, ready for the oven for up to 8 hours, so it&rsquo;s a great recipe to prep ahead. Just be careful and don&rsquo;t put a cold glass pan in the oven or it could crack. Allow it to warm up to room temperature first.</p>

<p><strong>Question: Does this recipe double well?</strong></p>

<p><strong>Answer: </strong>This poor man&rsquo;s steak recipe doubles very well! You may just need to sear the patties in batches and use multiple baking dishes or an extra large one to fit everything in.</p>

<p><strong>Question: Can I use ground pork instead of beef?</strong></p>

<p><strong>Answer: </strong>Yes, you can use any ground meat you want! We also love a beef and pork blend.&nbsp;</p>

<p>You&rsquo;ll need:</p>

<p><strong>For the meatloaf:</strong></p>

<ul>
<li>2 eggs</li>

<li>1 cup bread crumbs</li>

<li>1 onion, chopped</li>

<li>2 lbs lean hamburger meat</li>

<li>&frac12; cup milk</li>

<li>1 teaspoon salt</li>

<li>1 teaspoon pepper</li>

<li>1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce</li>

<li>1 tablespoon Dijon mustard</li>

<li>1 tablespoon tomato paste</li>

<li>2 teaspoons minced garlic</li>

<li>1 teaspoon garlic powder&nbsp;</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>For the sauce:</strong></p>

<ul>
<li>&frac12; cup ketchup</li>

<li>2 tablespoons brown sugar</li>

<li>1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce&nbsp;</li>
</ul>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Substitutions and Additions&nbsp;</h3>

<p><strong>BEEF:</strong> When you&rsquo;re making this meatloaf recipe, you can substitute the hamburger meat with any other ground meat you prefer, such as ground turkey, pork, or chicken. We prefer a combination of pork and beef and it makes the meatloaf really moist.</p>

<p><strong>ONIONS:</strong> Onions are not for everyone, so you can leave these out.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>SPICES:</strong> Spice things ups and call it a TACO meatloaf &ndash; add in some salsa or taco seasoning.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="how-to-make-the-best-meatloaf-recipe">How to Make The Best Meatloaf Recipe</h2>

<p><strong>STEP ONE:</strong> Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Spray a large loaf pan with nonstick spray.</p>

<p><strong>STEP TWO:</strong> Place all of the meatloaf ingredients in a large bowl.</p>

<p><strong>PRO TIP: </strong><em>To add more flavor, try sauteeing your onions before adding them to the meatloaf mixture.</em></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1200" height="1905" src="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Meatloaf-Step1.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-270" srcset="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Meatloaf-Step1.jpg 1200w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Meatloaf-Step1-189x300.jpg 189w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Meatloaf-Step1-645x1024.jpg 645w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Meatloaf-Step1-768x1219.jpg 768w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Meatloaf-Step1-968x1536.jpg 968w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<p><strong>STEP THREE:</strong> Mix the ingredients with spoons or hands.</p>

<p><strong>PRO TIP:</strong><em> Although it&rsquo;s not for everyone, mixing the meatloaf up with your hands ensures all the ingredients get incorporated thoroughly. Use a clean pair of gloves if you want.</em></p>

<p><strong>STEP FOUR:</strong> Shape into a loaf and place into a well-greased loaf pan.</p>

<p><strong>STEP FIVE:</strong> Combine the ingredients for the sauce in a small saucepan and bring it to a boil. Simmer for 2-3 minutes.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1200" height="1905" src="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Meatloaf-Step2.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-271" srcset="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Meatloaf-Step2.jpg 1200w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Meatloaf-Step2-189x300.jpg 189w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Meatloaf-Step2-645x1024.jpg 645w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Meatloaf-Step2-768x1219.jpg 768w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Meatloaf-Step2-968x1536.jpg 968w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<p><strong>STEP SIX:</strong> Pour half of the sauce over the meatloaf.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1200" height="1905" src="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Meatloaf-Step3.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-272" srcset="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Meatloaf-Step3.jpg 1200w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Meatloaf-Step3-189x300.jpg 189w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Meatloaf-Step3-645x1024.jpg 645w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Meatloaf-Step3-768x1219.jpg 768w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Meatloaf-Step3-968x1536.jpg 968w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<p><strong>STEP SEVEN:</strong> Place the pan in the oven and bake for 30 minutes.</p>

<p><strong>STEP EIGHT:</strong> Remove from the oven and add the rest of the sauce. Then return to the oven and bake for another 45 minutes or until the internal temp reaches 160 degrees.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1200" height="1905" src="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Meatloaf-Step4.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-273" srcset="https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Meatloaf-Step4.jpg 1200w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Meatloaf-Step4-189x300.jpg 189w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Meatloaf-Step4-645x1024.jpg 645w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Meatloaf-Step4-768x1219.jpg 768w, https://usinthekitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Meatloaf-Step4-968x1536.jpg 968w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<p><strong>IN THE FRIDGE:</strong></p>

<p><strong>IN THE FREEZER:</strong><br>If you want to freeze your meatloaf to use at a later date, wrap it up in plastic wrap and tin foil, put it in a freezer bag, and place it in the freezer. Make sure to use it within 3 months.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="faq">FAQ:</h2>

<p><strong>Question: </strong>Why should I use milk in the recipe?</p>

<p><strong>Answer: </strong>The milk mixes with the breadcrumbs and helps the meatloaf to stay moist.</p>

<p><strong>Question: </strong>Is it best to cook the meatloaf covered or uncovered?</p>

<p><strong>Answer: </strong>Cover with tin foil during cooking, but you can uncover it for the last 15 minutes, so the sauce caramelizes and gets sticky. When you cover the meatloaf, it also helps to retain moisture.</p>

<p><strong>Question:</strong> I don&rsquo;t have breadcrumbs. What else can I use?</p>

<p><strong>Answer: </strong>Crushed-up soda crackers are a great substitute if you don&rsquo;t have breadcrumbs available.</p>
